The Colorado Brownfields Partnership has released its 2025-2026 Annual Report, and this year’s story is really one of intentional change. Marking 31 years since CDPHE launched the state’s brownfields program, CBP — now working alongside new prime contractor 9th Path Advisors — used 2025 as a moment to step back and rethink how it shows up for Colorado communities.
That reevaluation led to a notable shift: after years of hosting a bi-annual statewide conference, CBP paused it, as rising costs had pushed the event toward unrealistic sponsorship targets. In its place, CBP launched a new model built around regional, in-person workshops — bringing brownfields education and coaching directly to communities rather than asking them to travel to one statewide event. The first of these took place in Grand Junction in November, serving the Mesa County and Western Slope region, with early results already validating the approach. As one community partner shared, this hands-on, regional style “is exactly what our communities need to move brownfields projects forward.”
That same spirit carried into CBP’s online presence, with work underway on a longer-term website improvement plan — fresher case studies, more current event listings, and better usability, with more to come in 2026.
Through it all, CBP kept doing what it does best: coaching communities through the brownfields process and connecting them with funding and technical resources at the state and federal level.
